Work Week Begins

Today we woke up at the early hour of 6:15 am.  The power was unfortunately out in the cooking trailer so instead we enjoyed McDonald sandwiches and local donuts. Finally around 930 we headed to our job.  The group got on the wonder bus to drive a half of an hour to the job site in Cleveland County. The homeowner's name is Miss Georgia, who is in her 70s. She was so happy to see her house and the smile never left her face. It was quite a cold day, but we survived. We began work on the inside of a nearly completed house. Trent, Debbie, Laura, Doreen, and I were on paint duty. We painted the nice trim around the new windows and even got to start on the doors. Tomorrow we hope to finish them. Walt/Henry. Doug, and Bob did some carpentry work. They began installing the counter tops in the kitchen. Needless to say after smelling cement glue for a couple hours in the enclosed house, we were all a happy bunch. We ate a nice packed lunch made by hand with our supervisor Stan. Laura and I worked hard together. It was a miracle. My mom was highly impressed. Highlight of the day though was Doug showing us his special talent... balancing stuff on his nose. No one believed him, but he did it and amused us all. At 4:15 pm, we drove back to the church where we could finally take a shower. Tonight for dinner the trailer was up and running again so we had meatloaf, mash potatoes, mixed veggies, salad, rolls, and peach cobbler. It was incredibly delicious. Nothing beats a home cooked meal. Now we are sitting around chit chatting and watching Laura get her butt beat in pool by Walt/Henry. It is a relaxed kind of night. Now it's my turn to beat Laura too. Report back tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Andrea Grada
